Picasa Simplified XML Web Export Template v1.0

Tags: Dev

This is a modification of the built-in Picasa XML web export template. The default includes undefined fields, and fields that only make sense if used directly in a gallery. Even then they don't seem necessary, but that's just me...

Download this, unzip it, then move the folder into your >program files<\Picasa2\web\templates folder. Next time you start Picasa it will be in the list of templates for Create a Web Page. This template is not needed for my bulk image uploader, but is useful if you want a smaller file.

Awesome! Thanks. Now my challenge is to see if I can find out if Picasa reads EXIF headers - I would have to believe it does - and a way to add them to the templates so I can output the GPS info from images into this simplified template. <br> <br>If you can help please send me a message to sortofhotmale@hotmail.com

Any luck with exporting the EXIF info to XML? This is something I'm interesting in as well and having it within Picasa would save a few steps. I noticed that jhead has a batch EXIF export to XML feature, but I run Win32 not Unix.

This is something that Picasa needs to expose. They still have no plugin architecture (though I've submitted that feedback more than once!). For right now, no EXIF export. :-(

You've figured out how to get Picasa to export the EXIF info? I am trying to figure out the samething and incorporate that with simpleviewer template.... <br> <br>

Picasa definitely has EXIF awareness/integration, but no documented way (at this point) to reflect that in exports. This is a pretty big deal that would make a big difference. It's a shame really, that with no plugin model Picasa seems to be better than &quot;good enough&quot; for most people, but not &quot;awesome.&quot; It's a solid foundation that's completely locked up.
