Recent Trip

My updates have been way too infrequent lately!  A week and a half ago I flew out to Seattle/Redmond for my first visit to the Microsoft campus.  I got to meet a few people face-to-face and get security stuff setup.  While I was out there, I visited a number of places around town with my friend Patrick Barnes.  It was a good but rushed visit, though at least I got a good number of pictures.  I've posted some of my better ones on my Zooomr account. Cool product: Returnil

This may be old news, but I just came across this cool-sounding virtualization tool called Returnil.  It's not processor-virtualization, but rather environment-virtualization.  Using Returnil, you can install, move, delete, muck up anything you want on the system (provided it's on the C:\ drive), and when you reboot you are reset.  Somewhat like System Restore, but faster, and more comprehensive.  Unlike System Restore, it only supports one rollback and you can only revert by rebooting.  You also can't seem to just commit your actions. To me, it looks like a great tool for installing a trialware app to see how things...

Arduino Starter Pack

This looks really cool.  It's a microcontroller with everything that you need to get started.  You get the controller module, a mini-breadboard for adding hardware to the controller, power supply, batter holder, USB cable, and assorted LED's and other components for fun.  You plug the device into a USB port (Windows/Mac/Linux) and use a supplied application to program it in C. click for more information It looks like a very easy way to dig into hardware with the foundation already taken care of.  As a big fan of robotics and hobbyist tinkering in general, I'm very tempted to...

Coding 4 Fun - MultiWall (Wallpaper Tool for Multiple Monitors)

Well, I got another Coding 4 Fun article filed a few days ago.  This one makes it easy to apply separate wallpaper images to each of multiple monitors.  Just drag-and-drop an image file to a special "drop region" on each monitor.  Learn about wallpaper, image resizing, drag-and-drop, and general Windows Forms programming. Enjoy! En mi artículo mas nuevo (¡en ingles, lo siento!), escribí sobre fondos de escritorio para pantalla múltiple.  Puede aprender sobre imágenes, arrastrar y soltar, y aplicaciones Windows Forms.  ¡Disfrutarlo! Awesome concert!

Last Sunday night we went to the first big concert we've ever been to as a family.  We've been to a number of classical, jazz, world, and other shows in the past few years, but never to a big-name concert in a larger venue.  My boys love this particular artist, and listen to his music all the time.  They don't listen to a whole lot of bands yet, so this is a large part of their personal musical exposure at this point.  Any idea who this is? I hope that you recognize him as "Weird Al" Yankovic!  My...
