Projects and Parenting

Of course my parental half says, "Make them stop!" But the other half really wants to see how this turns out.

If there's one thing my boys love, it's projects!  We always have a large stack of  "How it works" books, workshop tools, Make magazine issues, electronics kits, magnets, Legos, and other stuff laying around.  I grew up always wanting to take things apart to figure them out.  As my boys have grown, I've naturally shared this passion with them, in the process teaching (both them and me!) about astronomy, physics, geology, programming, and other stuff.  I always feel guilty that I can't spend even more time with them, and I wonder if I'll look back with regret at the projects that we didn't get to.  There are so many neat teaching and learning opportunities each and every day, they clamor for more, and all of it means more quality time together.  It can be tough to find the time (and I frequently feel that I don't do well enough), but it's a great challenge to try to meet!
