I did. I needed 50 or so. I got 2,000. For one dollar. Yeah!
Every so often, I need a collection of names and addresses for testing or demo purposes. Microsoft has an internal list of ficticious names (all taken from employees who apparently sign some paper), but no addresses. Intel has no such list whatsoever. I Googled "fake name generator" on a whim, and my first hit was
www.fakenamegenerator.com. This site offers names of eleven nationalities, and even generates maiden names, birthdates, credit card numbers, addresses and phone numbers! Addresses can be in one of 18 countries. You can change parameters for sex, nationality, and country. This was cool, but tedious to generate one at a time when I needed more. Then I saw it -- a link to generate a batch as a CSV file! The prices are incredibly low, with the lowest option being 2,000 names for $1 (double price to include national ID numbers such as SSN). As I only needed 50, I had some to spare for future projects!
For such a low price, the quality was excellent, and service was quick. Payment was through PayPal so no worries about giving out a credit card to an unknown company. I sent a thanks along with a request to order mixed country/nationality information in a single order, and he (Jacob Allred, the site developer) replied fairly quickly stating that it was in the works! If you need fake name data for a project, I highly recommend his service!
