Tapioca
We're going to try them tonight, so we'll see how they turn out. The priest at our church has a weakness for tapioca too, so if they are any good we're going to have to scare everyone by bringing a bowl for coffee hour one of these days!
UPDATE: It's not bad, but it's definitely weird. It doesn't have the same texture as smaller pearl tapioca at all. It was more like gummy balls floating in a creamy sauce. Yeah, that doesn't sound good. One of our boys liked it a little, the other not at all. I thought it was fine as long as you only focus on the flavor.

It tasted interesting. Not a whole lot of flavor. The colors were just a gimmick I think. Pretty much chewy balls! They definitely look neat though and could be used for an interesting dish to serve guests. Maybe floating in jello or some beverage. A friend tells me that this is what they use in bubble tea. I've never had or even seen bubble tea so I don't know for sure. I bought it at Chang's Asian Food Market in Coralville, Iowa. They are a pretty new place but they have great selection and prices.
