When science fiction and reality boundaries blur...

Thursday, November 17, 2005 1:39 PM

This is the coolest thing I've stumbled across in awhile.  A student at Stanford figured out a way to capture light in a camera differently than other cameras, and he can actually focus the image after taking the picture!  This is so much like science fiction!  Just imagine in a movie:

“Focus on that person in the corner“

“But sir, it's totally blurry!“

“Just do it!“

An now, he can!  Just amazing.  The video clips linked from each image shows just how cool it really is.  It just looks like someone performing focus prior to taking a picture, except that it's done later.  This is gonna be a high-end feature at first for sure!  Most consumers wouldn't even know what to do with it.

That is pretty amazing. I would want to have some device that has that kind of feature. Who knows, maybe in the near future, it could all happen. 11/24/2005 1:19 AM | Online Wong PoKér Hu
