Scraps and pieces

My wife and I have decided to give the boys something to keep them occupied during the summer, and hopefully after that. They love to draw, and even write about things we do as a family. It seemed like a great way to tie all of this together was to try scrapbooking. Honestly this whole new fad has just gotten on my nerves. I'm that way though. When things become popular I just get annoyed. But it seemed like a good idea for them. Maybe even for me. I have thousand of photos on the computer, but the idea of creating memory snapshots of experiences might be nice to look back on. I already have things we've done in the past that we haven't done more than take pictures of. In general this is good enough, but sometimes there is a newspaper article, or a brochure, personal thoughts, or other things to tie together so a scrapbook makes sense. If nothing else, in later years we can say to the boys, "See, we did do fun things with you when you were younger!" when they are jaded teens complaining about everything! So we'll see how this works. We'll make prints of favorite photos, they can chop them up, cut paper, write/type of thoughts, and have fun assembling them. Like the collages they do at school, but more focused. It's always nice to come up with new things for them to try.
